BEHIND ON MORTGAGE PAYMENTS?
There are a multitude of reasons why homeowners fall behind on mortgage payments. As you may have already noticed, the banks do not accept partial payments. If you've missed a few payments and you want to stay in your home, you may be eligible for a loan modification.
Things to know about a loan modification:
- You (the homeowner) can perform your own loan modification. The lender will request various documents such as: Tax Returns, Pay Stubs, Bank Statements, Financial Statements, and a Hardship Letter.
- In the state of New Jersey, ONLY a licensed "Debt Adjuster" or Attorney-at-law may legally perform loan modifications. Keep this in mind if you choose to hire a third party.
If you don't want to be hassled with doing a loan modification or just don't have the time, contact me for a list of loan mod specialists.
On the other hand, if you have been denied for a loan modification, you may still be able to prevent foreclosure. Like many other clients in new jersey, short sales have been the preferred alternative as opposed to losing their home at sheriff's sale.
