Do NOT allow yourself to be pressured into filing bankruptcy. Make sure it is the best decision. Bankruptcy does NOT end or stop foreclosures - in most cases it just delays them.
Thinking About Filing Chapter 7 / Chapter 13? ... Already Filed?
Although filing for bankruptcy can temporarily stop an auction, it most often just DELAYS the inevitability of foreclosure. Furthermore, bankruptcy creates a lasting negative mark on your credit, even years after filing, making recovery difficult in the long run.
Many people file for bankruptcy under the hope that everything will work out in the end; however, in most cases, bankruptcy leads to higher legal fees and costs and, ultimately, the loss of homes.
Unfortunately, buying more time doesn't necessarily mean that problems will work themselves out in the end. I am not an attorney and this is not legal advice, however you must be realistic about where you will get the money to make the payments necessary to keep your home.
In my opinion, bankruptcy does make sense for certain situation, however, there are other options. In most cases it's best that those options are explored before filing for bankruptcy.
